Bringing to life Emirati heritage with authenticity and innovation

Insights
Traditional Emirati crafts are more than just handiwork—they are symbols of cultural identity, rooted in history, and passed down through generations. The Traditional Heritage Festival held at Al Qattara Souq in Al Ain aimed to celebrate this living heritage by showcasing crafts, cuisine, clothing, and folklore that define the UAE’s rich cultural legacy. The event inspired to draw heritage lovers, families, artisans, students, and media from across the UAE and neighbouring Buraimi, offering a shared space for learning, pride, and preservation.
Imagination
We envisioned “A Vibrant Legacy”—an immersive, future-forward tribute to Emirati heritage. We wanted to reimagine the souq experience at the festival through colourful installations, digital projections, and interactive displays. From falcon-wing sculptures crafted from palm fronds to sound and light shows, each design element was curated and well thought out to honour tradition and captivate modern audiences. Projection-mapped Sadu patterns and themed zones were also designed to bring the spirit of each craft to life, engaging all senses in a journey through the past and into the future.
Integration
Blending authenticity with innovation, Al Qattara Souq was transformed into a multi-sensory celebration. Vibrant decorations, traditional motifs, and digital touchpoints—like LED walls, interactive storytelling screens, and colour-themed lighting—enhanced every step of the visitor journey. Artisans demonstrated time-honoured techniques alongside modern interpretations, while culinary zones, fashion showcases, and folklore performances offered deeper engagement. The result: a dynamic festival where heritage traditions were preserved, shared, and evolved for generations to come.
